Harmanpreet Relives Life-Changing World Cup Moment

Harmanpreet Relives Iconic World Cup Catch ‘1000 Times’, Says Life Has Completely Changed
India’s World Cup–winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur says she has watched the final moment of glory — her full-length diving catch to dismiss Nadine de Klerk — “at least a thousand times,” a moment she believes transformed not only her life but also the future of Indian women’s cricket.
Speaking in an exclusive interview during her visit to the PTI headquarters, the 36-year-old skipper reflected on the emotional high of clinching India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup title, sealed by a 52-run victory over South Africa.
“It’s a moment that changed my life,” Harmanpreet said. “That last ball, that catch… I have watched it at least a thousand times. Not only me, our team had been waiting for this moment for many years. I feel like watching it again and again.”
Her stunning diving effort in the deep, which closed out the final, has already become one of the most iconic visuals in Indian cricket history, symbolising years of hard work, resilience, and the rise of women’s cricket in the country.
As celebrations continue nationwide, Harmanpreet admitted the World Cup triumph has brought newfound recognition, responsibility, and pride — both personally and for the entire team.
