Eastern States Shine at PM Mementos Auction

Jharkhand, Odisha & Chhattisgarh Shine at PM Mementos e-Auction 2025

The PM Mementos e-Auction 2025 is now live, offering citizens a chance to bid online for rare and exquisite artifacts from Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and other Indian states. The auction will run until October 2, 2025, on pmmementos.gov.in, with all proceeds supporting the Namami Gange Project, a national initiative to rejuvenate and protect the river Ganga.

Jharkhand: Tribal Heritage and Resilience
Jharkhand’s 27 curated mementos showcase the state’s tribal culture, spiritual traditions, and regional pride. Highlights include:

  • Birsa Munda memento honoring the legendary tribal freedom fighter.
  • Lord Ram memento from Medininagar, reflecting devotional artistry with golden tones.
  • Biru Turban symbolizing unity and strength in tribal communities.
  • Santal Jacket with red embroidery, representing the identity of the Santal tribe.

Odisha: Textile and Folk Art Traditions
Odisha contributes 21 artifacts celebrating handloom, mythology, and folk artistry. Key pieces include:

  • Pattachitra artworks depicting tales of Lord Krishna, Radha, and Lord Ganesh.
  • Silver Peacock Memento, a fine example of Odisha’s filigree craftsmanship.
  • Tussar Silk Painting of Navagunjara, blending mythology and textile skill.

Chhattisgarh: Ancient Craft and Community Spirit
Chhattisgarh offers 16 items showcasing tribal traditions and spiritual vibrancy, including:

  • Dhokra metal casting pieces like “Musicians in Dhokra Art” capturing tribal music and joy.
  • Elephant Head Nandi Dhokra Statue, symbolizing wisdom and devotion.
  • Statue of Tribal Dancers, celebrating heritage and rhythm through detailed metalwork.

The PM Mementos e-Auction, organised by the Ministry of Culture and displayed at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, has been running since 2019. This year’s auction features over 1,300 items, including paintings, handicrafts, tribal arts, sports memorabilia, and ceremonial gifts. Citizens can participate online, with all proceeds going towards the Namami Gange Project, dedicated to safeguarding the sacred Ganga River.
