Custodial Assault Victim Expresses Relief After Meeting Odisha CM

A woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted while in police custody, along with her fiancé, expressed relief after meeting Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the state secretariat.

The victim, accompanied by her father and a group of retired army officers, stated that the Chief Minister gave her a patient hearing during the meeting. She shared her gratitude for the opportunity to present her case directly to the state’s highest authority but emphasized that her relief would only be complete once justice is served.

“I feel relieved after speaking to the Chief Minister, but I will only be satisfied when those responsible for the crime are punished. Justice must prevail,” the woman told reporters following her meeting. She has accused seven police personnel of involvement in the custodial assault, and she continues to seek their accountability.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with many demanding swift and stringent action against those responsible. The state government has assured a thorough investigation, with Chief Minister Majhi reportedly pledging his personal attention to ensure justice is delivered.

The alleged incident, which took place at a police station in Bhubaneswar, has sparked outrage, raising concerns over police misconduct and the treatment of detainees.
