Congress Seeks Debate on Operation Sindoor

Odisha Congress Demands Full Debate on Operation Sindoor, Says PM’s Address Inadequate
The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Monday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent address to the nation following the culmination of Operation Sindoor, calling it insufficient and lacking transparency. The party has demanded a special session of Parliament to discuss the operation in detail and clarify the government’s foreign policy stance.
OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das emphasized that the Prime Minister’s speech left many critical questions unanswered, particularly regarding the possibility of third-party intervention in matters concerning Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
“I do not want to make any adverse comment on the Prime Minister’s statement, but a lot of things remained untold,” Das told PTI. “The people of this country deserve to know whether the government has altered its long-standing foreign policy and permitted third-party mediation on what has always been a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan.”
He further questioned the government’s sudden withdrawal during a time when, according to him, the Armed Forces were prepared for combat.
The Congress leader reiterated the party’s demand for transparency and parliamentary accountability, stating that only a full-fledged debate in a special Parliament session could address public concerns about Operation Sindoor and its strategic implications.
While the Centre has maintained that Operation Sindoor was a success, opposition parties have raised concerns over the lack of clarity and potential diplomatic shifts.
