Coastal Odisha Hit by Heavy Rain as Cyclone Dana Nears Landfall

The coastal regions of Odisha were battered by heavy rain and squally winds on Thursday as Cyclone Dana moved closer to the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported rough sea conditions, with the severe cyclonic storm expected to intensify as it approaches land.
Cyclone Dana is projected to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port early Friday, with wind speeds forecasted to reach up to 120 kilometers per hour (kmph). Authorities are on high alert, closely monitoring the storm’s path while ensuring precautionary measures are in place to minimize damage and risk to lives. Evacuations are being carried out in vulnerable coastal areas, and the Odisha government is urging residents to stay safe and follow official instructions.
