BJD Urges NCST Action in Rape Case

BJD Seeks NCST’s Intervention in Koraput Tribal Girl’s Rape Case
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday urged the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) to intervene in the alleged rape case of a tribal minor girl in Odisha’s Koraput district and ensure the immediate arrest of the accused.
A delegation from the opposition party submitted a memorandum to the NCST through its regional office in Bhubaneswar, drawing attention to the serious nature of the crime and the delay in arresting the perpetrator.
According to the BJD, a case has already been registered at the Mahila Police Station in Jeypore, following the girl’s complaint. The party claimed that the victim, a tribal minor, was raped and later became pregnant as a result of the assault.
Calling for justice, the BJD emphasized the need for prompt action to safeguard the rights and dignity of tribal women. The party also demanded that the authorities handle the case with utmost sensitivity and speed to ensure accountability.
Further developments are awaited as the case draws growing attention at the state and national levels.
