Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced that the road connecting Berhampur and Jeypore will be upgraded to a six-lane highway at an estimated cost of ₹6,000 crore.

The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing the annual function of Saraswati Shishu Vidyamandira at Nilakantha Nagar in Berhampur. He said the proposed six-lane highway would act as a major economic corridor, significantly boosting trade, transport, and development in southern Odisha.

Majhi emphasized that improving road infrastructure is a key priority of his government. He said efforts are underway to enhance connectivity across the state by linking eastern and southern Odisha with the northern and western regions, with support from the central government.

The upgraded highway is expected to improve travel efficiency, strengthen regional integration, and accelerate economic growth in southern Odisha.
