Andhra Pradesh eyes IT, GCC leadership

Andhra Pradesh aims to emerge as IT, GCC capital: senior official

Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself to emerge as the IT and Global Capability Centre (GCC) capital of the country and as India’s gateway to the East, a senior government official said on Tuesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of an Investment Promotion Roadshow held here, C M Saikanth Varma, CEO of the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (AP EDB), said the state is making focused efforts to attract investments in information technology, global capability centres and emerging technologies.

Varma said the port city of Visakhapatnam is well placed to become the next IT, GCC and artificial intelligence (AI) capital of the country, citing its strong social infrastructure, quality of life and strategic advantages.

“Under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and with guidance from IT Minister Nara Lokesh, the state is trying to position itself as the IT and GCC capital in the country. We want to catch up to the AI wave, which is coming up in a big way,” Varma told PTI Videos.

He added that Andhra Pradesh is actively engaging with investors and showcasing its policy support, infrastructure readiness and talent pool to drive growth in technology-driven sectors. The state government, he said, aims to create a robust ecosystem that supports innovation, employment generation and long-term economic development.
