Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth Reviews Operational Preparedness at INS Rajali

Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth visited Indian Naval Air Station (INS) Rajali on June 20, 2024, to review the station’s operational preparedness. During his visit, Shri Seth was briefed on current and upcoming maritime operations as well as the ongoing infrastructure development projects at the station. He also took the opportunity to interact with the personnel stationed there, acknowledging and appreciating their vital role in ensuring maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.

INS Rajali, commissioned on March 11, 1992, is named after a prominent bird of prey from the Hawk family, prevalent along the Tamil Nadu coastal belt. The air station covers an area of 2,200 acres and is situated 80 kilometers west of Chennai.

As the most modern and largest Naval Air Station in India, INS Rajali boasts a garrison strength of 4,700 personnel and operates under the Headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command. The station plays a crucial role in both operational and training tasks, significantly contributing to the Indian Navy’s capabilities.
