PM Modi Highlights Development and Stability at ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ Event in Srinagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event in Srinagar today, emphasizing the significant strides in development and stability achieved in Jammu & Kashmir. The event saw the participation of J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav, and a large gathering of youth and citizens from across the region.

In his speech, PM Modi reflected on his excitement about visiting Srinagar and highlighted the dual reasons for his enthusiasm: the ongoing development projects in J&K and his first meeting with the people of Kashmir post the recent Lok Sabha elections. He also reminisced about his long-standing association with the region and its people.

PM Modi underscored the importance of stability in governance, noting the global impact of a consistent government and how it changes international perspectives towards India. He emphasized that the citizens’ aspirations are at an all-time high and that the government’s performance and delivery of results have led to their re-election for a third term.

Reflecting on the recent Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi highlighted the message of stability conveyed by the mandate. He recalled the period of unstable governments in the late 20th century, contrasting it with the current era of stable governance which has bolstered India’s democracy. He praised the people of J&K for their participation in the democratic process and for setting new records in voter turnout.

PM Modi spoke about the tangible changes in J&K, attributing them to the abrogation of Article 370, which he described as a barrier to the region’s progress. He highlighted the positive international reception of recent events in J&K, such as the G-20 meeting in Srinagar, and the visible improvements in public life, including increased tourism, bustling markets, and vibrant cultural activities.

The Prime Minister also announced the commencement of development projects worth over ₹1500 crore in J&K, along with initiatives in agriculture and allied sectors amounting to ₹1800 crore. He acknowledged the rapid recruitment in government jobs, with approximately 40,000 hires in the past five years, and the distribution of employment letters to about 2000 young individuals during the event.

Highlighting infrastructure improvements, PM Modi mentioned the construction of thousands of kilometers of new roads under the PM Gramin Sadak Yojana, new national highways, and expressways. He proudly spoke of the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River and the integration of remote areas into the power grid.

PM Modi lauded the emergence of J&K as a hub for startups, skill development, and sports. He praised the local youth for their entrepreneurial spirit and their contributions to various sectors. He also emphasized the government’s efforts in enhancing sports infrastructure and training young athletes for national and international competitions.

Addressing recent security concerns, PM Modi assured the public that the government is taking all necessary measures to ensure peace and stability in J&K. He emphasized the commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring a peaceful environment for the new generation.

Concluding his address, PM Modi congratulated the people of J&K on the various new projects and expressed his pride in hosting the International Yoga Day in Srinagar, marking a significant moment for the region on the global stage.
