Four Census Officials Assaulted in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Four Census officials, including two women, were allegedly assaulted in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place in the Mahimanagar area under Kamakshyanagar Notified Area Council (NAC) when a team of three enumerators and one supervisor visited the locality to collect data as part of the ongoing Census exercise, which began on April 16.

According to officials, the team was attacked by three persons — a man and his two sons — leaving all four staff members injured.

Kamakshyanagar Sub-Collector Dinamani Nayak confirmed the incident, stating that the injured officials are receiving treatment. “Our four Census staff members were injured in the attack. Police are probing the incident, and strict action will be taken against the attackers,” he said.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter, and efforts are underway to identify the motive behind the assault.
