Sona Mohapatra slams Badshah over song

Singer Sona Mohapatra has criticised rapper Badshah over his controversial new song Tateeree, accusing the artist of promoting misogynistic tropes through its lyrics and visuals.

The Haryanvi track, released on March 1, sparked widespread backlash on social media and among cultural groups for what many described as obscene lyrics and inappropriate visuals. The controversy escalated after a police complaint was reportedly filed against the song and the matter drew attention from a state commission.

Reacting to the issue, Mohapatra said artists have a choice to either challenge misogyny in society or profit from it through their work. Her remarks added to the growing criticism directed at the rapper following the songโ€™s release.

Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh, later issued a public apology and removed the track from social media platforms amid the mounting outrage.

The episode has reignited debates about responsibility in popular music and the impact of lyrics and visuals on public discourse, particularly on issues related to gender representation in the entertainment industry.
