90% Odisha voters mapped with 2002 rolls: CEO

R. S. Gopalan, Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, on Friday said that nearly 90 per cent of voters in the state have been mapped with the 2002 electoral roll as part of an ongoing verification exercise.

Speaking to reporters, Gopalan said the mapping process is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed within the next 15 days, with authorities aiming to achieve at least 95 per cent mapping.

The exercise is being carried out ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which is scheduled to begin from April 1.

Officials said the revision process will help ensure that the voter list remains accurate and updated by verifying and correcting entries in the electoral rolls.

The Chief Electoral Officer emphasised that the ongoing initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the electoral system and ensure transparency and accuracy in voter records across the state.
