Border 2 Smashes Republic Day Record

‘Border 2’ records Rs 63.59 crore on Republic Day; four-day total at Rs 193.48 crore

Sunny Deol-starrer Border 2 continued its stellar run at the box office, posting a record-breaking Republic Day collection on its fourth day in theatres.

According to the makers, the film earned Rs 63.59 crore net on Republic Day, marking the highest-ever single-day Republic Day collection for a Hindi film. With this, the movie’s four-day net domestic box office collection rose to Rs 193.48 crore.

A sequel to Deol’s 1997 blockbuster Border, the film was released in theatres on January 23 and has witnessed massive footfalls across the country, driven by the extended holiday weekend and its patriotic theme.

Backed by T-Series and J P Films, Border 2 opened to strong numbers and has shown impressive growth, particularly on national holidays. Trade analysts attribute the film’s performance to nostalgia associated with the original, Sunny Deol’s mass appeal and strong word-of-mouth.

With weekdays ahead and no immediate major releases, the film is expected to maintain momentum and cross further box office milestones in the coming days.
