Golmaal 5 to blend fantasy, comedy

‘Golmaal 5’ to venture into fantasy comedy, feature female antagonist

The popular Bollywood comedy franchise Golmaal is set to return with its fifth instalment, and this time it will explore the fantasy-comedy genre while introducing a female villain, according to sources close to the project.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Golmaal 5 marks a new creative turn for the long-running franchise that began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006. The series went on to become one of Hindi cinema’s most successful comedy franchises with Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017).

The films are fronted by Ajay Devgn, who reprises his role as Gopal, alongside an ensemble cast portraying a group of mischievous and often directionless friends. Over the years, characters such as Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Laxman (played by Shreyas Talpade, Sharman Joshi and later Kunal Khemmu) and Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor) have become audience favourites, known for their slapstick humour and chaotic adventures.

While earlier instalments leaned heavily on situational comedy and farce, Golmaal 5 is expected to add fantasy elements to the narrative, expanding the franchise’s comedic universe. The inclusion of a female antagonist is also being seen as a fresh twist, breaking away from the traditional villain format seen in previous films.

Details about the cast, storyline and production timeline are currently under wraps. However, the announcement has already generated excitement among fans, who have long awaited the return of the beloved franchise known for its mass appeal, humour and ensemble performances.
