Odisha CM unveils new SOG training centre, announces risk allowance for anti-naxal forces
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated a new training and briefing centre along with a state-of-the-art counter-terrorism training complex of the Special Operations Group (SOG) at Chandaka, aimed at strengthening the operational preparedness of the state’s elite anti-Maoist force.
Addressing the event, Majhi said the newly inaugurated SOG facility has the capacity to train up to 400 personnel at a time and will significantly enhance the skills, coordination and tactical readiness of commandos engaged in anti-naxal and counter-terrorism operations.
The Chief Minister also announced the introduction of a risk allowance for personnel deployed in anti-naxal operations, acknowledging the challenging and high-risk conditions under which security forces operate in insurgency-affected areas.
In a major boost to police infrastructure across the state, Majhi inaugurated 16 police stations, 70 police quarters, and several barracks, armouries, office and administrative buildings spread across 16 districts. He said the expansion and modernisation of infrastructure would improve policing efficiency, personnel welfare and public service delivery.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to internal security, the Chief Minister said Odisha is focused on equipping its forces with modern training facilities, advanced technology and adequate welfare measures to effectively counter left-wing extremism and ensure lasting peace and development in affected regions.
