Enhanced Surveillance Rolled Out At New Delhi

New Delhi Railway Station Equipped with 250 CCTV Cameras for Enhanced Security

New Delhi Railway Station has been equipped with a total of 250 CCTV cameras to strengthen security and surveillance across the station premises, reinforcing Indian Railways’ commitment to passenger safety. The cameras cover both outdoor areas such as entry and exit points, foot overbridges and platforms, as well as indoor spaces including waiting halls and ticket counters.

According to official information, CCTV cameras were already installed at the station, but additional cameras have been deployed to cover newly developed areas that came up after February 15, 2025. The enhanced surveillance ensures comprehensive monitoring of all operational and passenger movement zones within the station.

The installation of CCTV cameras at railway stations and coaches is part of an ongoing nationwide initiative. So far, Indian Railways has provided CCTV surveillance systems at 1,731 stations and 11,953 coaches to ensure a safe and secure journey for passengers. These systems are installed under capital expenditure.

In addition to surveillance measures, Indian Railways has extended free Wi-Fi services to 6,117 railway stations across the country. No separate funds have been sanctioned by the Ministry of Railways for these Wi-Fi services. To access the facility, passengers are required to provide only their mobile number for OTP-based authentication, with no personal information being collected beyond this.

Railway authorities have also clarified that appropriate and prompt action is taken whenever issues related to the functioning of Wi-Fi services at stations are reported, ensuring uninterrupted digital connectivity for passengers.

With enhanced CCTV coverage and widespread digital facilities, Indian Railways continues to focus on improving security, convenience and overall passenger experience at major stations like New Delhi.
