Foreign delegates visit Odisha Assembly for exchange

40 foreign delegates from 12 nations visit Odisha Assembly, discuss parliamentary best practices

A 40-member delegation representing 12 countries visited the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday, engaging in extensive exchanges on parliamentary procedures, democratic values and legislative practices with Speaker Surama Padhy and other officials.

Speaker Padhy said the visit fostered “meaningful international exchange and collaboration,” adding that the discussions helped strengthen shared commitments to safeguarding democratic institutions across the world.

The delegates, who interacted with Assembly members and officials, shared insights on governance models, legislative functioning and democratic challenges faced in their respective countries.

Representatives arrived from nations including Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Somalia, Maldives, Nauru, Nigeria, Tanzania and Venezuela, among others.

The visit was part of an international outreach initiative aimed at building global parliamentary cooperation and enhancing mutual understanding among democratic institutions.
