Majhi woos tribals, calls BJD sinking

CM Majhi Woos Tribals, Terms BJD a ‘Sinking Boat’ in Nuapada Campaign

Stepping up his campaign for the November 11 by-election in Odisha’s Nuapada constituency, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday reached out to tribal voters while launching a sharp attack on the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD), calling it a “sinking boat.”

Addressing a series of public meetings, Majhi highlighted the state government’s welfare schemes for tribal communities and accused the BJD of neglecting their interests during its long tenure. “The people of Odisha, especially our tribal brothers and sisters, have suffered enough under the BJD’s misrule. The party has lost the people’s trust — it’s now a sinking boat,” Majhi said.

He urged voters to support the BJP candidate to ensure development and transparency in governance. Tribals make up more than 35 per cent of Nuapada’s 2.53 lakh voters, making them a decisive force in the upcoming bypoll.

The constituency is witnessing an intense triangular contest between the BJP, BJD, and Congress, with all parties ramping up their campaigns in the final days before polling on November 11.
