PM Modi to Launch Year-Long Celebration of 150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long commemoration of 150 years of India’s National Song “Vande Mataram” on November 7, 2025, at around 9:30 AM at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
As part of the event, the Prime Minister will release a commemorative stamp and coin marking the historic occasion. The launch will also feature mass singing of the full version of Vande Mataram across the nation at 9:50 AM, with citizens from all walks of life participating simultaneously.
The celebrations will continue for a year—from November 7, 2025, to November 7, 2026—honouring 150 years of the timeless composition that stirred India’s freedom movement and continues to symbolize unity and national pride.
Written by Bankimchandra Chatterji on Akshaya Navami (November 7, 1875), Vande Mataram was first published in the literary journal Bangadarshan as part of his iconic novel Anandamath. The song, portraying the Motherland as a symbol of strength, prosperity, and divinity, became a rallying cry during India’s struggle for independence.
The nationwide commemoration aims to reconnect citizens with the patriotic spirit and cultural essence embodied in Vande Mataram, reaffirming its place as a cornerstone of India’s national identity.
