Gurugram hospital restores woman’s chest symmetry

Gurugram Hospital Restores Chest Symmetry for Woman Through Fat-Grafting Surgery

A 33-year-old woman with a severely underdeveloped breast underwent a successful cosmetic procedure at CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram, where doctors restored symmetry using her own body fat.

The plastic surgery team, led by Dr Anmol Chugh, employed a fat-grafting technique in a two-hour procedure, harvesting fat from the patient’s body and grafting it into the underdeveloped breast. The intervention resulted in near-perfect chest symmetry, helping the patient regain both physical balance and confidence.

Dr Chugh, Associate Director and Plastic Surgeon, explained that the patient suffered from unilateral amastia, a rare condition affecting roughly 1 in 10,000 females, where breast tissue fails to develop on one side. In some cases, the condition also involves missing underlying pectoral structures.

“Using the patient’s own fat ensures a natural look and feel, while minimizing risks associated with implants. The goal is not just aesthetic correction but also restoring confidence,” Dr Chugh said.

The successful surgery highlights advances in reconstructive cosmetic procedures, allowing patients with rare congenital conditions to achieve both physical symmetry and emotional well-being.
