BJP urges tribal leaders to adopt villages

BJP Urges Tribal MPs, MLAs in Odisha to Adopt 20–25 Villages Each

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha has urged its tribal Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly to adopt 20–25 villages each in their constituencies to fast-track development in tribal-dominated regions.

The appeal was made during a workshop of the Tribal Cluster Development Project (TCDP) held at the state BJP headquarters in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The workshop aimed to equip tribal leaders with strategies to effectively implement welfare and infrastructure initiatives in their respective areas.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who inaugurated the workshop and himself belongs to the tribal community, emphasized the need for grassroots-level engagement to ensure inclusive growth.

“The development of tribal regions is a key priority for our government. Every leader must take personal responsibility for uplifting the lives of people in remote villages,” Majhi said.

The BJP currently has five Lok Sabha MPs and 16 MLAs representing Scheduled Tribe-reserved constituencies in Odisha. Party officials said the initiative is part of a broader plan to strengthen tribal welfare programmes and ensure effective delivery of government schemes in underdeveloped regions.
