Odisha BJP Plans Fortnight-Long Celebration of PM Modi’s 75th Birthday
Bhubaneswar, Sept 2 : The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a fortnight-long series of programmes to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, which will be observed as Seva Diwas (Service Day) from September 17 to October 2.
The celebrations will be held at the mandal, district, and state levels, featuring a wide range of activities including cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, and free health camps across PHCs, CHCs, medical colleges, and private hospitals.
BJP State General Secretary Jatin Mohanty, while addressing a press conference, said that the celebrations this year will be more elaborate as it coincides with the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday.
A state-level exhibition on Modi’s life will be inaugurated on September 17, followed by district-level exhibitions from September 18–27, highlighting the Vocal for Local initiative through fairs promoting local products, handicrafts, and traditional industries.
Other key events include a drawing competition on ‘Developed India’, screenings of a film on Modi’s life Prabuddha Barga Bhaswa (Sept 19–20), and distribution of books on Modi in schools, colleges, libraries, and Panchayat Bhavans (Sept 19–27).
On September 20, coinciding with National Coastal Day, cleanliness drives will be held along Odisha’s sea coast, while September 21 will feature the statewide Modi Vikas Marathon. The BJP will also mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay on September 25 with programmes at all organizational levels, along with the felicitation of eminent personalities and Divyangjans.
The fortnight-long observance will conclude on October 2, coinciding with the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, with special programmes planned across the state.
