BJP Announces New Odisha Election Dates

BJP Odisha President and National Council Elections Rescheduled for July 6–8

Bhubaneswar, July 4 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the revised schedule for the election of its Odisha State President and National Council members, which will now be held from July 6 to July 8. The process was earlier postponed due to the tragic stampede near the Gundicha Temple in Puri that claimed three lives.

Dr. Jatin Mohanty, State Joint Election Officer, informed that while elections for local, mandal, and district-level committees have already been completed, the election for the State President and National Council members will now proceed as per the updated timeline.

As per the new schedule, the provisional voters’ list will be published on July 6 at 11 AM, with a complaint window open from 12 noon to 2 PM. The final voters’ list will be released between 2 PM and 5 PM on the same day.

On July 7, candidates may file their nominations between 11 AM and 2 PM, and any objections regarding nominations will be addressed between 2 PM and 3 PM. The final list of candidates will be published by 4 PM, followed by the allotment of election symbols.

If necessary, polling will be held on July 8 from 9 AM to 11 AM, with the results declared by 11:30 AM.

To ensure transparency, Bihar MP Sanjay Jaiswal has been appointed as the observer by the Central Election Officer to oversee and supervise the entire election process.

The elections hold significance as the party prepares to consolidate its organization in Odisha following the recent change in political dynamics.
