India Eyes Historic T20I Series Win

India Aim Historic Women’s T20I Series Win Against England
Team India is on the brink of scripting history as they gear up to face England in the third T20I of a five-match series on Friday, eyeing their maiden women’s T20I series victory over the hosts.
Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women’s team has displayed commanding form in the series so far. They stunned England with a record 97-run win in the series opener, followed by a 24-run triumph in Bristol, marking England’s first-ever T20I defeat at the venue. With a 2-0 lead, India stands one victory away from sealing an unassailable lead and rewriting the record books.
India has never won a bilateral women’s T20I series against England, either home or away, since the format was introduced. Their only T20I win on English soil prior to this series came in 2006 at Derby, in a one-off match. Since then, the Women in Blue have repeatedly fallen short against the English side.
This time, however, the tide seems to be turning. The Indian bowling unit, led by the likes of Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma, has kept the English batters in check, while the top order — featuring Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah Rodrigues — has delivered consistent performances.
Victory in the upcoming match would not only seal the series for India but also mark a major milestone in the team’s journey toward becoming a global T20 powerhouse.
The third T20I is set to be played at a venue where England has traditionally enjoyed strong support. But with form, confidence, and momentum on their side, India will step onto the field with history within reach.
