Youth Congress Protests Outside Odisha CM’s House

Youth Congress Activists Hurl Eggs, Tomatoes During Protest Outside Odisha CM’s Residence
Tension gripped the capital on Wednesday as Odisha Youth Congress activists hurled eggs and tomatoes during a protest march near Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s residence. The protest, which led to a scuffle with police, was organized to condemn the alleged rise in atrocities against women and Dalits in the state.
Led by Youth Congress state president Ranjit Patra, the agitators marched with banners and shouted slogans demanding Chief Minister Majhi’s resignation. They accused the state government of failing to ensure the safety and dignity of vulnerable communities, particularly women and Dalits.
The protest turned aggressive when police tried to stop the protesters near the CM’s residence. During the confrontation, some protesters threw eggs and tomatoes, prompting a rapid response from security personnel. Several Youth Congress members were detained by police at the spot.
“Our demand is clear — the Chief Minister must resign for failing to protect the rights and safety of women and Dalits in Odisha,” said Patra while addressing the media after the protest.
The Youth Congress has also warned of intensified statewide agitation if their demands are not addressed promptly.
Police officials confirmed that law and order was brought under control shortly after the incident and said further legal action may follow based on video footage and reports.
The Odisha government is yet to issue an official response to the protest or the allegations raised.
