Pant, Rahul Tons Put India Ahead

Pant’s Historic Twin Centuries, Rahul’s Gritty Ton Lift India to Commanding 298/4
Rishabh Pant etched his name into cricketing history on Monday, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test cricket to score centuries in both innings of a match, as India tightened their grip on the series-opener against England at Headingley.

Pant’s fluent 118 off 140 balls, laced with flair and determination, added to his first-innings hundred and placed him alongside Zimbabwe great Andy Flower as the only wicketkeepers to achieve this rare feat in Test history.

Complementing Pant’s brilliance, KL Rahul played a patient and technically sound innings, remaining unbeaten on 120 at tea on Day 4. His effort was a masterclass in temperament and shot selection, helping India post a formidable 298 for four and extend their overall lead to 304 runs.

With The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” playing softly over the Headingley speakers as Pant approached his milestone, the moment felt both electric and historic. He reached the landmark with a composed single off his 130th delivery, receiving a standing ovation from a packed crowd.

India now find themselves in a commanding position going into the final session of the penultimate day, with a chance to press for victory and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
