I&B Secretary Visits IIMC Dhenkanal, Reviews Development Plans and Assures Ministry’s Support

Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, paid a visit to the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal today to assess ongoing campus development efforts and discuss future growth strategies for the regional media education centre.

During his inspection, Shri Jaju reviewed the renovation work currently underway and visited key facilities including the boys’ and girls’ hostels, academic block, audio-visual studios, and administrative areas. He engaged in in-depth discussions with Prof. Dr. Anand Pradhan, Regional Director of IIMC Dhenkanal, focusing on infrastructure upgrades, academic expansion, and future plans to enhance the institute’s stature.

Prof. Pradhan provided a comprehensive overview of the institute’s progress, highlighting both challenges and emerging opportunities. He emphasized the need for introducing new postgraduate (MA) programmes and deepening industry-academia collaboration to align education with current media trends.

Impressed by the campus initiatives, Shri Jaju praised the institute’s efforts and assured full support from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transforming IIMC Dhenkanal into a premier media and communication education hub in eastern India.

“This visit underscores our focus on strengthening regional institutions and expanding access to quality media education across India,” Shri Jaju noted during the interaction.

The visit marks a significant step in the Ministry’s broader goal of fostering inclusive development in media education and enhancing the capabilities of regional IIMC centres nationwide.
