Amit Shah Urges Criminal Law Implementation

Amit Shah: New Criminal Laws Reflect Constitution’s Spirit, Must Be Grounded in Implementation
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday emphasized that the three newly introduced criminal laws, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, are designed to embody the spirit of the Indian Constitution and must be brought into practice through effective implementation.
Speaking during a review meeting with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the rollout of the new laws in the state, Shah underscored the importance of translating legal reform into real change for citizens.
“These laws are not symbolic; they are a step toward delivering true constitutional justice. Civil rights cannot be strengthened by mere legislation — they must be enforced at the grassroots,” Shah stated.
The Union government recently enacted significant changes to India’s criminal justice framework, replacing colonial-era statutes with modern laws aimed at speeding up justice, ensuring transparency, and protecting individual rights.
Shah reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting states in adapting to the new legal architecture and called for coordinated efforts to train law enforcement personnel and judiciary officials for effective implementation.
The review is part of a broader initiative to ensure uniform rollout and operational readiness across states, ahead of the new laws coming into force.
