Operation Sindoor Celebrates Courage, Honors Women

CM Majhi Hails ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a Celebration of Women’s Courage and Patriotism
Bhubaneswar – Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described Operation Sindoor as a profound celebration of women’s courage and a heartfelt tribute to their role in the nation’s defence. Leading a spirited Sindoor Yatra in Bhubaneswar, Majhi said the event symbolises not just victory, but the strength and resilience of women in the Indian Armed Forces and beyond.
The yatra, organised by the Mission Shakti Department, saw hundreds of women march from Master Canteen Road to Rama Devi University, including distinguished participants like Lieutenant Commander Ananya Dalbehera of the Indian Navy and Priyadarshini Acharya, wife of martyr Prashant Satapati, who laid down his life in the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Majhi said, “Operation Sindoor is not just a name; it’s a movement that honours the power, patriotism, and spirit of India’s women. The red sindoor, in this context, stands not only as a cultural symbol but also as a warning to enemies and a mark of triumph for India.”
He paid homage to women officers such as Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Bhoyomika Singh, calling them icons of courage and inspiring examples of what Indian women can achieve in service to the nation.
“This march is a display of our collective strength, dedication, and pride in our motherland,” Majhi stated, underscoring the yatra’s emotional and patriotic resonance.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Speaker Surma Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister Parvathi Parida, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Mission Shakti Shalini Pandit, and Mission Shakti Director Monika Priyadarshini.
Operation Sindoor stands as a testament to Odisha’s commitment to honouring women’s contributions to the nation and promoting a culture of respect, recognition, and empowerment.
