Diljit’s Met Gala Necklace Showcases Royalty

Diljit Dosanjh’s Met Gala Necklace: 4 Months, 2,500 Gems, and a Tribute to Royalty
In a striking homage to Indian royalty, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh made his much-anticipated Met Gala debut in 2025 donning a regal white ensemble completed with a custom-made, multi-layered necklace crafted by Jaipur-based Golecha Jewels.
The exquisite piece took nearly four months to design and featured over 2,500 diamonds and emeralds, with a dazzling emerald centerpiece. It drew inspiration from the opulent legacy of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, known for his elaborate taste in jewellery and his historic collaborations with international jewellers.
“You take inspiration from nature, things, and people. This represents royalty and history, we made it according to that,” said Manav Golecha, owner of Golecha Jewels, in a statement to PTI. “He [Bhupinder Singh] was the first Indian king in history to commission jewellery from a foreigner,” he added.
Dosanjh’s look, complete with a turban and symbolic kirpan, stood out as a bold cultural statement on the global stage, seamlessly blending heritage with high fashion.
