Youth Dies Hours After Collapsing During Home Guard Physical Test in Odisha
Family Alleges Medical Negligence at District HospitalA 19-year-old youth, Saheba Dehury, collapsed during a physical endurance test for home guard recruitment in Odisha’s Deogarh district and died hours later at a hospital, police confirmed on Thursday.
Dehury, a resident of Budido village in Reamal block, fell unconscious during the test and was rushed to the district headquarters hospital. However, his father, Pradip Dehury, alleged that his son did not receive proper medical attention and died around 3 AM due to the unavailability of doctors.
Family Demands Probe
The bereaved family has demanded an inquiry into the alleged medical negligence, stating that timely intervention could have saved Saheba’s life.
Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the tragic death has sparked concerns over medical preparedness and safety measures during physically demanding recruitment drives.
