Rain, Thunderstorms Expected in Odisha After Intense Heatwave

After days of extreme heatwave conditions, Odisha is likely to witness rain and thunderstorms in the coming days, providing much-needed relief, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.
According to the IMD, parts of the state may experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, which could bring down the soaring temperatures. The weather shift is expected to offer respite to residents struggling with the oppressive heat.
In the last 24 hours, Boudh in western Odisha recorded the highest temperature at 43.6 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest place in the state. Other regions also experienced intense heat, with Bolangir recording 40.4°C, Jharsuguda at 39.8°C, Sambalpur at 39.7°C, and Hirakud at 39.1°C.
Meteorologists have advised people to take precautions against sudden weather changes, as thunderstorms may be accompanied by gusty winds. The state administration is also monitoring the situation closely to ensure preparedness for any adverse weather conditions.
With the forecast indicating relief from the scorching heat, residents are hopeful for cooler days ahead.
