Hockey India Announces 36-Member Core Probable Group for Senior Men’s National Coaching Camp

Hockey India has named a 36-member core probable group for the Senior Men’s National Coaching Camp, which begins today at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Bengaluru and will conclude on March 28.

The Indian Men’s Hockey Team returns to camp fresh from the Hockey India Annual Awards held in New Delhi on Saturday. The training camp aims to refine fitness, conditioning, and key strategic areas ahead of the next phase of the FIH Hockey Pro League in Europe.

Key Players in the Core Group

The squad includes top-performing players across all positions:

  • Goalkeepers: Krishan Bahadur Pathak, Pawan, Suraj Karkera, Mohith Honnenahalli Shashikumar
  • Defenders: Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Sumit, Sanjay, Jugraj Singh, Amandeep Lakra, Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Varun Kumar, Yashdeep Siwach

India’s Recent Pro League Performance

The Indian team made an impressive start to their FIH Hockey Pro League (Men) 2024-25 campaign, securing five wins from eight matches played at home. They currently stand third in the points table with 15 points, just behind England and Belgium, who have 16 points each.

Coach’s Perspective

Chief Coach Craig Fulton highlighted the importance of the camp in maintaining player fitness and evaluating recent performances.

“It has been a busy season for the players with back-to-back events and high-quality matches. During this camp, our focus will be more on fitness and conditioning, apart from introspecting on our recent performances and key focus areas,” said Fulton.

He also emphasized that the camp will prepare the squad for upcoming Pro League matches in Europe and provide an opportunity to assess fresh talents.

With a strong core group and an eye on continued improvement, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team is gearing up for an intense training period to further solidify its standing on the international stage.
