Odisha Adopts National Education Policy 2020 with Local Contextualization

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15 : The Odisha government has officially announced the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the state, aligning with the National Curriculum Framework while incorporating local contexts to enhance its relevance.

The School and Mass Education Department issued a notification on Wednesday confirming the decision. The notification emphasized the state’s commitment to strengthening its educational system and aligning with the NEP 2020 guidelines introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The state government stated that Odisha would adopt the National Curriculum Framework as the State Curriculum Framework with modifications to reflect the state’s unique cultural, linguistic, and social contexts.

The decision is expected to bring a transformative change in Odisha’s education sector, ensuring inclusivity and quality while catering to local needs. This initiative aims to empower students with modern, multidisciplinary education while preserving the state’s rich heritage and traditions.

Educational institutions across Odisha are anticipated to begin the transition process in accordance with the new guidelines, with further directives and implementation strategies to be announced soon.
