Odisha Govt Monitors Paddy Procurement Transparency

Odisha Govt Tightens Vigilance on Paddy Procurement in Mandis

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15 :The Odisha government has directed officials to maintain strict vigilance across all mandis to ensure transparency in the ongoing paddy procurement process for the kharif season.

As per official sources, the government is committed to addressing issues faced by farmers and has implemented several measures to streamline the procurement process. A total of 3,893 nodal officers have been deployed across 3,903 mandis to assist farmers, while 1,031 supervisors have been tasked with overseeing operations at two to three mandis each.

The state is procuring paddy from registered farmers at a minimum support price (MSP) of ₹2,300 per quintal. Additionally, an input assistance of ₹800 per quintal is being provided to further support the farmers.

The appointed officials are addressing grievances on-site, and provisions have been made for farmers to directly report any issues. These steps aim to ensure that no eligible farmer is left out or faces difficulties during the procurement process.

The government’s initiative is expected to enhance transparency and efficiency in paddy procurement, benefitting the farming community significantly.
