582 Maoist Cadres Surrendered in Odisha Since 2006: CM Majhi

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state Assembly on Monday that a total of 582 CPI (Maoist) cadres have surrendered in the state from 2006 up to January 2025.
Responding to a query by Congress MLA Mangu Khilla, Majhi highlighted that out of the 582 surrendered militants, 364 eligible individuals have been provided with surrender benefits under the state’s “Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy.” The government has spent a total of ₹9.62 crore on these benefits to assist the former militants in their reintegration into society.
The policy, implemented since 2006, aims to encourage Maoist cadres to return to the mainstream by offering them various rehabilitation measures. This initiative is part of the state’s strategy to address the Maoist insurgency and restore peace in affected regions.
Majhi emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of those who decide to renounce violence and join the mainstream of society. The state continues to encourage more militants to surrender and benefit from the rehabilitation process.
