SCCL to Begin Production from Odisha Coal Mine Shortly: Government

State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is set to commence production from the Naini coal mine in Odisha shortly, according to a statement from the coal ministry on Friday.
The operation, which has a production capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum, faced delays due to the pending handover of forest land. This came after the mine received Stage-II forest clearance in October 2022.
The Naini coal block was allotted to SCCL in 2015 for the captive utilisation of coal in its thermal power plant. With the land clearance now in place, SCCL is poised to enhance its coal production to meet the demands of its public sector enterprise.
