Ranchi Gears Up for South Asian Games

Ranchi to Host South Asian Games from October 24 to 26

Ranchi, Oct 16 : The city of Ranchi is set to host the South Asian Games from October 24 to 26 at the Morabadi Athletic Stadium, marking a major sporting milestone for Jharkhand.

The event will witness the participation of nearly 300 international athletes and 150 technical officials from six South Asian nations — India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will not participate in this edition of the games.

The State Department of Sports has intensified preparations to ensure the successful and grand conduct of the event. The official inauguration ceremony and mascot unveiling will be held on October 17, to be presided over by the State Sports Minister.

To provide a warm and enriching experience, special arrangements have been made for the reception and accommodation of athletes. The Jharkhand Olympic Association Secretary and IOA Treasurer Madhukant Pathak described the event as a proud moment, highlighting that 40 to 50 Olympians are expected to participate, inspiring young sportspersons and enthusiasts in the region.

Preparatory meetings, chaired by the Sports Minister and the Development Commissioner, have reviewed all key arrangements. Sports Director Shekhar Jamuar informed that technical issues at the venue have been resolved, while painting, cleaning, and beautification works are nearing completion.

Comprehensive plans for security and traffic management have also been finalized to ensure a smooth and safe event.
