Raksha Mantri Urges AMC to Embrace Latest Technologies for Soldier Healthcare

INHS Asvini, Mumbai Wins RM Trophy for Best AFMS Hospital

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called on the Army Medical Corps (AMC) to continue adopting cutting-edge medical technologies to enhance healthcare services for soldiers. Speaking at the 261st Raising Day celebrations of AMC at the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in Delhi Cantt., he emphasized the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and simulator-based training in improving medical procedures.

Highlighting the importance of dual-use technology, Singh stressed the need for civil-military convergence in medical advancements. He praised AMC’s collaboration with institutions like ICMR, IITs, AIIMS, and global medical organizations, urging further expansion of training programs for professionals in developing countries.

AMC’s contributions to healthcare infrastructure, combat medical readiness, and emergency response systems were also recognized. Singh commended their implementation of Advanced Mobile Surgical Units and AI-powered medical triage systems.

Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, the first female Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), was lauded for her leadership in advancing military healthcare and promoting greater female participation in the sector.

During the event, Singh presented the Raksha Mantri Trophy for the Best Hospital in AFMS 2024 to INHS Asvini, Mumbai, with Command Hospital, Western Command, Chandimandir, Haryana, receiving the second-best hospital award.

The event was attended by senior defence officials, including Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and service chiefs from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
