ECoR Task Force Ensures Station Cleanliness

ECoR Forms Special Task Force to Enhance Cleanliness in Stations

Bhubaneswar, Apr 3: In a significant step towards maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has established a Special Task Force to curb littering and spitting across its railway stations. This initiative aims to enforce cleanliness regulations and raise awareness among passengers about maintaining hygiene in railway premises.

The Special Task Force operates in collaboration with Station Managers, Ticket Collectors, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and officials from the Commercial and Operating Departments. Their primary role is to actively monitor stations, ensuring adherence to cleanliness norms while educating passengers on the importance of maintaining a clean railway environment.

To reinforce the campaign, ECoR has launched a comprehensive awareness drive, including public announcements, posters, banners, and outreach through various media channels. Additionally, railway staff have been authorized to impose fines on individuals violating cleanliness norms. Offenses such as spitting, littering, cooking, bathing, urinating, or defecating in railway premises or compartments will attract penalties.

As per ECoR sources, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Bhubaneswar Railway Station collected Rs.1,17,100 in fines from 581 individuals for spitting and littering during March 2025. This strict vigilance extends to all stations under ECoR’s jurisdiction, with station management actively ensuring adherence to cleanliness regulations and enforcement of penalties.

Passengers and rail users are encouraged to dispose of waste in designated dustbins and utilize the toilets and washrooms provided at railway stations. The East Coast Railway remains committed to fostering a cleaner and more hygienic travel experience for all.
