Odisha to Establish Three NCC Training Centres, Expand Cadet Strength
Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to strengthen the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Odisha, the state government has decided to set up three training centres in Cuttack, Berhampur, and Sambalpur to enhance cadet skills.
During a discussion at Lok Seva Bhavan, NCC Director General Lt Gen Gurbir Pal Singh met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and deliberated on the expansion of NCC in the state. As part of this initiative, 5 acres of land each has been allocated for the centres in Cuttack and Berhampur, while 10 acres will be provided in Sambalpur.
To further bolster NCC activities, the number of cadets in Odisha will be increased from 60,000 to 90,000, with new NCC branches being established in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other schools. Additionally, the state government will deploy officers and staff for setting up an NCC Group Headquarters in Koraput.
Another major development is the introduction of flight training for NCC cadets at Jharsuguda Airport, for which the state has already spent ₹1.5 crore to establish a hangar.
Chief Minister Majhi has directed officials to extend all necessary support to facilitate NCC’s growth in Odisha, reinforcing the state’s commitment to youth development and skill enhancement.
