Odisha Govt Announces Affordable Housing Plan for Bhubaneswar, Special Focus on Slum Dwellers
The Odisha government has unveiled a new housing initiative aimed at providing affordable homes to residents of Bhubaneswar, including slum dwellers, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced on Thursday.
Mahapatra said the upcoming housing units will be priced between ₹14 lakh and ₹50 lakh, ensuring options for families across income levels. Special provisions will be introduced to support slum dwellers, enabling them to access secure and dignified housing within the city.
As part of a pilot project, 90 two-bedroom houses have already been constructed. These units will be allotted once a final Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is prepared, the minister added.
The government’s move is seen as a major step toward improving urban living standards and advancing inclusive development in the state capital.
