Odisha Implements Drone Restrictions for PM Modi’s Visit Amid Security Concerns

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Odisha, the state government has taken proactive measures to enhance security protocols, including the restriction of drone usage. With concerns over potential security risks, Odisha authorities have directed district collectors to designate event venues as ‘no drone zones’ and ‘no flying zones.’

In response to observed incidents during previous visits, where drones were employed by media personnel to capture visuals of the Prime Minister during public engagements, security officials have heightened vigilance. The Director Intelligence of Odisha Police has formally communicated these directives to the Director of Information and Public Relations, urging dissemination to media organizations.

During the Prime Minister’s visit on May 6, the utilization of drones for coverage purposes raised apprehensions among security personnel, citing potential threats to the VVIP’s safety during public meetings, rallies, and roadshows.

The implementation of drone restrictions underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of dignitaries and attendees during high-profile events. As preparations intensify for the Prime Minister’s visit, authorities remain steadfast in their efforts to maintain order and safeguard public welfare.
