Odisha Govt Sets Up Dedicated Mechanism to Monitor Key Industrial and Infrastructure Projects

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: The Odisha government has put in place a dedicated mechanism to ensure regular monitoring and timely review of major industrial and infrastructure projects across the state.

As part of this initiative, all departments and district collectors have been instructed to maintain consistent supervision, conduct monthly evaluations, and update detailed data on the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) portal. This includes information on issues encountered, steps taken for resolution, and the latest implementation status.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, who chaired a high-level Third Task Force Committee meeting, reviewed the progress of projects listed on the PMG portal and directed officials to expedite delayed works. He stressed the need to reinforce institutional mechanisms at every level for effective project management and faster execution.

To streamline monitoring, district-level review meetings will be held by the 7th of each month, departmental reviews by the 12th, and a state-level review chaired by the Chief Secretary on the third Saturday of every month.

The committee also discussed challenges related to land acquisition, power supply, and connectivity, instructing IDCO and concerned district administrations to take immediate measures to resolve bottlenecks. Further, discussions were held on compensatory assistance for remaining affected landowners and the establishment of power substations by OPTCL.

In districts such as Keonjhar, Balangir, Jagatsinghpur, and Khordha, the Handlooms and Textiles Department and local administrations were advised to fast-track weaving, industrial park, and major drinking water projects to meet deadlines.

It may be recalled that during the 49th PRAGATI meeting held on September 24, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had emphasized that project delays not only escalate costs but also delay public access to critical services and infrastructure.
