Odisha Govt Approves Renewable Energy Projects Worth Rs 903 Crore

In a significant move towards bolstering the state’s renewable energy sector, the Odisha government has approved investment proposals totaling Rs 903.41 crore. The announcement was made following a meeting of the single window committee (SWC) of the Energy Department, chaired by Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev.
The approved projects are pivotal to Odisha’s ambitious target of achieving 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The SWC cleared two major wind energy projects, which are expected to play a crucial role in the state’s energy landscape.
HPCL Renewable & Green Energy Ltd received approval to establish a 48-MW wind energy project in Umerkote, Nabarangpur district. This project aims to harness the wind potential of the region and contribute significantly to the local economy and energy supply.
Similarly, ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd was given the green light to develop a 49.5-MW wind energy project in Astaranga, Puri district. This initiative is expected to boost the region’s renewable energy output and support the state’s environmental and economic goals.
These investments reflect Odisha’s commitment to sustainable energy development and reducing its carbon footprint. By fostering renewable energy projects, the state aims to not only meet its energy demands but also create job opportunities and promote economic growth.
Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev emphasized the importance of these projects in achieving the state’s renewable energy targets. He reiterated the government’s dedication to creating a conducive environment for investments in the renewable energy sector.
The approval of these projects marks a significant step forward in Odisha’s journey towards a sustainable and energy-secure future. As the state continues to attract investments in renewable energy, it sets a strong example for other regions aiming to transition towards greener energy solutions.
