Odisha flags off senior citizens’ pilgrimage

Odisha: Special pilgrim train with 775 senior citizens flagged off to Omkareshwar, Ujjain
A special pilgrim train carrying 775 senior citizens from five Odisha districts departed from Berhampur on Monday for Omkareshwar and Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh under the state government’s Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana.
The initiative aims to support elderly citizens by enabling them to visit important pilgrimage sites free of cost.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida flagged off the train in the presence of Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia, and several MLAs.
The five-day spiritual tour will take the pilgrims to the revered Omkareshwar Temple and the holy city of Ujjain, with the group scheduled to return to Berhampur on November 21.
