Odisha Attracts ₹1 Lakh Crore Investment at Kolkata Meet
The Odisha government on Saturday announced that it has garnered investment commitments worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore during a two-day investors’ meet and roadshow held in Kolkata.
The event was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and other senior officials. According to an official statement, the state signed 27 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and received 19 investment intents from various industries for setting up projects in Odisha.
The 27 MoUs involve a proposed investment of ₹81,864 crore and are expected to generate over 63,161 jobs. In addition, 19 investment intent proposals worth ₹18,453 crore were received, with the potential to create more than 27,591 employment opportunities.
If all the proposed projects are implemented, they are expected to generate employment for around 80,000 people, the official said.
The government said the strong response from investors reflects growing confidence in Odisha’s industrial ecosystem, policy stability and infrastructure, and reiterated its commitment to facilitating timely project implementation and job creation.
