BHUBANESWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring over Rs 18,690 crore to the bank accounts of more than 9.34 crore farmers across the country.

In Odisha, more than 35.38 lakh beneficiary farmers received financial assistance amounting to Rs 3,000 crore under the latest instalment, officials said.

The instalment was released by the Prime Minister during a programme held at Banaskantha in Gujarat.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined the programme virtually from Bhubaneswar and addressed beneficiary farmers at a state-level 'PM-Kisan Utsav'.

The PM-KISAN scheme provides eligible farmer families with financial assistance of Rs 6,000 annually, distributed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The latest release is aimed at providing financial support to farmers across the country, including lakhs of beneficiaries in Odisha.
