Naveen lauds Odisha’s education ranking rise

Odisha Secures 5th Rank in School Grading System; Naveen Patnaik Expresses Happiness

Bhubaneswar, July 3 :In a moment of pride for the state, Odisha has secured the 5th rank nationally in the Performance Grading Index (PGI 2.0) for the academic year 2023–24, as per the report released by the Central Government. The state scored 595.6 points, earning the PRACHESTA-3 grade, a major leap from its 14th position in 2019.

Reacting to the achievement, BJD chief and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his happiness through a post on social media platform X. He credited the progress to Odisha’s strong emphasis on educational reforms and governance innovations under the 5T initiative.

“We have always believed that New Odisha will be built by empowering every child with the power of education,” Patnaik posted, underlining his long-standing commitment to transforming the state’s school education system.

Significant Leap in Education Rankings

The PGI 2.0 evaluates school education across 73 indicators grouped into two major categories: Outcomes and Governance & Management. Odisha’s performance reflects substantial improvements in infrastructure, learning outcomes, digital integration, and institutional accountability.

Highlighting the impact of reforms, Patnaik noted that over 7,000 government schools have been transformed under the 5T framework — focusing on Technology, Teamwork, Transparency, Time, and Transformation — aimed at igniting new aspirations among students and enabling them to reach greater heights.

Tribute to the Education Ecosystem

Patnaik extended his gratitude to teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff for their relentless efforts and dedication in achieving this transformation. “Glad that the robust foundation of government school education is helping students excel,” he added.

This recognition by the Central Government positions Odisha as a model state in school education reform, showcasing how strategic interventions and inclusive efforts can deliver tangible outcomes in the public education system.

The achievement is expected to further boost morale and inspire continued focus on educational empowerment, in line with the vision of building a New Odisha driven by knowledge, equity, and opportunity for all children.
